1. Working principle frame
2. Working principle
a. Signal source and controller
Signal source uses the most advanced technology of digital frequency modulation, amplitude modulation and phase modulation to synthesize a sine wave. CPU digitizes the first sine wave or coupling harmonic wave (if harmonic wave output is necessary) and stores the data into RAM. Frequency base generator will grab the digitized sine wave stored in RAM and input the data to six D/A converters via counter. The output of these six D/A converter are six synthesis sine waves that have certain phase relationship. These six sine waves will be the input signal source for three- phase voltage and three- phase current. These signal source will be amplified by the power amplifiers and its amplitude can then be adjusted by 16 bits D/A converter. This enables the adjustment as fine as 0.01% of the full scale.
b. Power amplifier
Power amplifier uses the most advanced technology of Pulse Width Modulating power operation amplifier. It has designed a perfect protection system for overloading voltage short circuit and overloading current open circuit. It has speedy limit current protection system and keeps the power amplifier in steady working.
c. Measurement
This equipment uses standard power meter (comparison method) to calibrate power meter. It uses the most advanced wide range voltage and current multifunction standard power meter and spares the CT/PT. This simplifies the transmission of counting number and improves the calibration accuracy. This equipment uses simplified ‘Y’ type output for voltage output to calibrate 3 phase 3 wire power meter. So the Ua, Ub, Uc of 3 phase 3 wire power meter should connect to the output terminals Ua, Ub, Uc of the equipment .
1. The environment should meet the requirement specified in the standard “JJG597-89” Alternate current power meter inspection equipment”.
2. The equipment should be ground properly. If equipped with PC, PC should also be ground properly.
Warning: Equipment and PC should be ground properly. Otherwise the equipment may not function properly or PC’s I/O components may be damaged seriously.
3. Put the infrared collector on top of the frame. Connect the sampler’s 5 cores plug with the error counter’s 5 cores adapter.
4. Inspect whether the three-phase power source adapter matches with the equipment’s three phase four wires plug. Equipment’s 3 phase 4 wire plug have 4 wires as Ua, Ub, Uc and N(Neutral line). Make sure wires are correctly connected. Neutral wire and ground wire should not be used commonly.
1. Turn on the equipment
a. Connect the three phase power source plug properly with the three-phase power source adapter.
b. Press on the “ power ” switch.
c. Push on the “ starting up ” button. Signal source monitor screen and keyboard should display.
Warning: Before the above steps are complete, it is not allowed to press the “ STARTING UP” key to output voltage and current.
2. Connection measurement
a. 3 phase 4 wires power meter
Connect the meter’s Ua, Ub, Uc, Un, Ia, Ian, Ib, Ibn, Ic, Icn to corresponding terminal under the frame according to the meter’s name-plate. If there is more than one meter to be inspected, the current connection should start from frame’s Ia terminal into the first meter’s Ia terminal, then first meter’s Ian terminal to second meter’s Ia terminal, then second meter’s Ian terminal to third meter’s Ia terminal, and so on so forth. The last meter’s Ian then connects with the frame’s Ian terminal. It is same for B and C phase.
b. Three-phase three-wire power meter
This equipment’s voltage output for three-phase three-wire power meter is simplified “ Y” type. It means under this 3 phase and 3 wire, it is the same as the type of voltage output under 3 phase 4 wire. So the Ua, Ub, Uc of 3 phase 3 wire power meter should connect to the output terminals Ua, Ub, Uc of the equipment. The standard energy meter shows quantity of electric according to the type of 3 phase 3 wire.
Current connection of 3 phase 3 wire power meter is the same as 3 phase 4 wire power meter except that the B phase current should not be connected.
3. Sampling signal connection
a. Inductive energy meter (infrared collector) Connect the infrared collector that matches to each tested meter to the photo electrical input “
”of PTC-8000A. The PTC-8000A displays the error of each tested meter.
b. Pulse signal
If the meter has pulse output, break the connection between infrared collector and the photo electrical input “
”of PTC-8000A. Use special cable to connect the pulse output of the calibrated meter with the photo electrical input “
”of PTC-8000A.connect the red clip to the +5V terminal of pulse and the black clip to 0V.
c. If the meter has a connection of RS485 and communication is requered
when testing, connect the RS485 terminal to the RS485 input of PTC-8000A
with a special cable, connect the red clip to”A” and the black to “B”.
4. Test
a. Before testing, be sure to check the wire connection and equipment status.
b. To operate the equipment, please follow the display of the monitor. Refer the user’s manual.
If the equipment comes with PC control, please follow the PC’s command instruction.
To ensure full reliability, PTC-8320D is designed with a perfect protection system. When the voltage circuit is short or overloaded, or the current circuit is open, it will automatically lower down the output even to zero and light the red LED on the power source to indicate accordingly. When the load returns to normal situation, it will automatically restore the output. In the real usage, for safety purpose, it is recommended to lower down the output power, check the wire connection, then restore the power output if everything is normal.
H. Turn off the equipment
a. Lower down the output voltage and current to zero.
b. Press the “ stop “ button.
c. Push off the “ power ” switch.
d. Press the “ stop” button immediately if there is any unclear situation happened during operation.
During operation, any occurrence of abnormal situation, please check as follows:
a. Inspect whether the rated voltage, current and loading power are correct. Inspect whether the cables connect correctly. Inspect whether the loading is normal.
b. Error test is abnormal.
Check whether the preset parameter for the meter calibrated and the standard meter are correct. Check whether the infrared collector works correctly. Check whether the ground for the equipment and the PC are normal.
c. PTC-8000A doesn’t work correctly
If PTC-8000A doesn’t work correctly, it can be restored by pushing the button of ‘ RST1’. In the process of calibrating the meter, push the button of ‘RST2’ to re-calculate.
1. Periodically inspect (quarterly) and tight the wire connection, especially inspect whether the ground is okay (including PC computer).
2. If the equipment can’t start normally, please check whether the three-phase power source is normal. The equipment is equipped with protection system for missing phase power source. If the three-phase four-wire power source is abnormal or the fuse is off, the equipment will not start.
3. Should take action to prevent any virus from infecting the PC computer, malfunctioning the software and doing unexpected damage to the equipment. Suggest to do virus check monthly
4. Any wrong execution of equipment’s procedure caused by unexpected condition can be fixed by turning off the power and restarting the equipment.
